Curaçao (pronounced /ˈkjuːrəsaʊ/in English; Dutch: Curaçao, Papiamentu: Kòrsou), is the largest out of the five islands of the Netherlands Antilles, and as such, is a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in the Caribbean. It is located 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela, and it has a land area of 444 square kilometers (171 square miles).

  Because of its history, the island's population comes from

  many ethnic backgrounds.

  There is a  majority of mixed Afro-Caribbean,

  as well as Asian, Latin-American and European descent.
